Dusty Springfield was born Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien on April 16, 1939 in Hampstead, London, England.

Frequently called "The White Lady of Soul", her hits included: "I Only Want To Be With You", "You Don't Have To Say you Love Me", "Wishin' And Hopin'", and "Son Of A Preacher Man".

She was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) on December 30, 1998.

Dusty Springfield died of cancer on March 2, 1999 at 10:40 PM in Henley-on-Thames, England.

She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ten days later.
